Wal-Mart, Environmental Power Corporation, EPV Solar, 3C Group, and NativeEnergy Join Clean Energy Industry Coalition
Washington, DC – The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) welcomed five new members to its ranks this quarter – including Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer, Environmental Power Corporation, EPV Solar, 3C Group and NativeEnergy – to join in its state, federal and international work on climate change and clean energy issues.
The Business Council for Sustainable Energy is a broad-based industry coalition of energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy and electric utility interests that advocates energy and environmental policies that expand markets for clean, efficient and sustainable energy products and services. The Council’s coalition includes power developers, equipment manufacturers, independent generators, green power marketers, gas and electric utilities, and retailers, as well as several of the primary trade associations in these sectors.
“At this critical time, individual and collective corporate leadership on climate change and clean energy issues sends strong signals for a low-carbon economy and sets the energy agenda for the 21st century,” said Lisa Jacobson, BCSE’s Executive Director. “I am delighted that Wal-Mart, Environmental Power Corporation, EPV Solar, 3C Group and NativeEnergy are committed to these issues and join the growing BCSE membership.”
BCSE and its members are actively preparing to host the Council’s Fall 2007 Conference, “Climate Change is Energy Policy: Opportunities to Reduce Emissions and Accelerate Deployment of Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency,” which will be held in San Francisco on October 10-11, 2007.
The BCSE conference occurs at a critical junction as California pursues leading edge initiatives for climate change regulation. Notable conference speakers include representatives from the California Public Utilities Commission, CalEPA, Sempra Energy, California Market Advisory Committee, PG&E Corporation, California Climate Action Registry, Western Climate Initiative, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Office of Climate Change, Econergy, Office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), EcoSecurities, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Instituto Nacional de Ecologia de Mexico, Trane Environmental Policy Council, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, First Environment Inc., and Solar Turbines/A Caterpillar Company, among others.
