Industry Delegation to Promote American Clean Energy Solutions at U.N. Climate Change Conference
The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) will lead a delegation of its industry members to the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP 23) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
WHEN: November 6-17, 2017
WHERE: Bonn, Germany
WHY: The Council will participate in COP 23 to share the progress of the rapid transformation that is occurring in the energy sector in the United States. It will also seek to showcase how the suite of existing clean energy solutions can help take that transformation around the world, and help meet a country’s nationally-determined contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. COP 23 is an important milestone on the road to completing the implementation guidelines of the Paris Agreement in 2018 – of interest to the BCSE in the development of the “Paris Rulebook” are the areas of transparency and accounting, technology, finance, and the role of market-mechanisms. COP 23 will also open the Talanoa Dialogue towards the 2018 global stock-tacking on country progress and ambition.
WATCH FOR: BCSE will release a policy paper on Monday, November 6, that will outline its COP 23 priorities and it will also present three Distinguished Leadership Awards to long-standing negotiators and prominent influencers in the UNFCCC process during the conference. These awards are being given in recognition of the BCSE’s 25th Anniversary in 2017. More details will be provided in the coming days.
BCSE EVENTS: BCSE will host several public events that will share US business experiences and discuss the key issues under consideration at the two-week conference. Please find here the Council’s schedule of public events at COP 23.
