Lawmakers, states jockey for cash from stimulus package

Washington, DC, December 22, 2008 – Lawmakers, states, trade groups and others are funding pricey presents for their home states and industries, maneuvering to ensure that their interests get funded by a massive economic stimulus package Congress is expected to take up in January…. The Business Council for Sustainable Energy and numerous other groups also testified on Capitol Hill recently, pushing funding that would benefit their industries or causes. The Council, for example, testified in favor of renewable energy investment tax credits and a production tax credit for hydropower resources.
