BCSE Support for Partnership Between DOE and CoStar Group, Inc.
Washington, DC - The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) released the following statement from BCSE President Lisa Jacobson regarding the Department of Energy’s partnership with CoStar Group, Inc. to expand visibility of energy efficient buildings in the U.S. real estate marketplace.
“The Council applauds the partnership announced today between DOE and CoStar Group, Inc. as a significant step towards expanding the visibility of energy efficient buildings in U.S. property markets. The online availability of building efficiency information such as ENERGY STAR scores, whole building usage intensity, and annual greenhouse gas emissions will promote transparency and create benefits for commercial real estate consumers.
“According to the BCSE-Bloomberg New Energy Finance 2016 Sustainable Energy in America Factbook, energy efficiency investment by utilities and energy savings performance contacts together totaled $13.1 billion in 2014. These investments continue to pay dividends for the U.S. economy, with American energy productivity increasing by 13 percent from 2007 to 2015. As the largest information platform for the commercial properties market, CoStar has the ability to drive increased opportunities for energy service companies and building efficiency technology providers.
“Public-private partnerships are key to driving clean energy deployment. This partnership announced today between the Department of Energy and CoStar group will expand awareness and increase investment in building efficiency, expand market opportunities for energy efficient products and services, and create jobs.”
